There are a variety of ways you can get ready to quit attempt - even if you haven’t set a Quit Date just yet. These four simple activities could really make a difference. You can download more information on each activity in the PDF leaflet below, which includes handy activity sheets, so you can make your own notes.
Activity 1: Know your reason for quitting
People find quitting smoking easier when they feel they have really a good reason. Our motivation sheet will help you record your own reasons, to keep as a reminder.
Activity 2: Make your environment smoke-free
This is the last thing you’ll do before you quit – it’s also the most important. Download our checklist to make sure your house, car and workplace are ready for a smoke-free you.
Activity 3: Walking up stairs
One of the amazing things about quitting smoking is just how quickly your body starts to recover. Our stair test proves it’s true – with a simple chart to help you see the difference it makes, right from week one.
Activity 4: Sense Test
Did you realise that every cigarette you smoke is helping to dull some of your senses? The smoke you inhale kills the ability of sensitive cells in your mouth and nose to detect smell and flavour. Quitting smoking enables those cells to begin to regenerate. Within a few short weeks, your sense of taste and smell should noticeably improve. One way to underline the positive change is to take a sense test.
